Easy last minute gifts to make, part 1

I love giving handmade gifts during the holidays. But I’m really bad about waiting until the last minute when it comes to actually making the gifts. So I thought I’d throw together a series of posts on a few easy, last minute gifts that I’m making and gifting this holiday season.

Bubble tacks and tile coasters are both super easy, affordable, and quick to make. In this post, I’ll show you how I made the bubble tacks.

To make bubble tacks you will need the following supplies:

1. Clear bubble gem stones
2. Scrapbook paper
3. Push pins
4. Felt
5. Hot glue
6. Scissors

STEP ONE: Apply the paper to the bubble gem stone. To do this, I dabbed hot glue all over the flat back of the stone and then stuck it down onto the scrapbook paper. Once the glue has dried, use your scissors to cut the paper as tightly to the stone as you can. Tip: Don’t worry if the glue spills past the edges of the stone. You can cut it away with your scissors.

STEP TWO: Attach the push pin to the back of the stone with hot glue. Let it dry.

STEP THREE: Cover up the back to give it a more finished look and added stability. This is where the felt comes in. I applied a liberal amount of hot glue to the back of the stone, making sure to get all around the tack. Then I stuck the glue covered tack through the felt and smooshed it all down. Let the glue dry and then trim the felt around the stone as flush as you can. The felt will keep the stone attached to the tack.

That’s it! Easy peasy. Now all you have to do is package up a cute set and give it to a friend. You could even throw in a super cute cork board.
